Hybrid Wines

June 21, 2022 by Tannat Leave a Comment

Good Day, Tannatians!  What a crisp cold week it is!

Wednesday night, January 16th, we will be hosting a winemaker dinner with Kenneth Albert from Shelburne Vineyard in Vermont. We still have space at the 8:30pm seating.  Please RSVP at tannatreservations@gmail.com or in person at Tannat or via Instagram.  We will be pouring the Iapetus line…natural wines made from La Crescent, Marquette, and Louise Swenson grapes.  Hybrids!  Yes!  Hybrids are grapes that have been crossed between at least two Vitis species. They are ideal for growing in the cold north eastern climate.  Vermont is one of the wine making regions that has really embraced hybrids and Shelburne Vineyard is crafting some stunning examples of the kinds of wines these varieties can produce!  This dinner will be 3 exquisite wines paired with Will’s rustic farm cooking.  $70 per person plus tax and tip.  Please join us in welcoming Kenneth Albert!  We are so excited to be sharing these wines with you!

And a few more events to warm you up in the coming weeks:

Sunday January 20th, at 3pm, is our monthly Razor Blade Readings series.  This month the readers are M.K. Rainey, James H. Duncan, and Ariel Francisco.  Come grab a drink and a bite to eat and listen to these great writers!

Saturday February 2nd we are stoked to be drinking the afternoon and evening away with Zack Klug from…drum roll…Liten Buffel!  No shit!  We are hosting this bad ass winemaker!  His Riesling is killer!  So…come down and drink some juice and chat with Zack.  He is coming all the way down from Middleport, New York.  His wines are hip and cool but most of all are delicious and dangerous!  Who knows, he might even bring something special!  So put it in your calendars!  Nothing better to do on a cold February evening!  Oh and what is left over we are taking them home to enjoy with Zack and his wife so give us a hand!

And as of Thursday, Jan. 17th, we will be opening Tannat starting at 9am, Mon-Friday, for daytime service.  You can come in for breakfast, lunch, or just a snack! We want to interact with our neighborhood in a more complete way, providing delicious food, lovely environs, books, and friendly service to anyone who needs it. We are computer friendly!  But if you want to use the space as a work space, we will be charging $5 an hour- either as a flat rate or you can purchase food and drink in that amount. We will also offer weekly and monthly rates– just stop in for more info.

See you soon!
